So, you're predicting 8-8?

I'll buy that, though it is unlikely they'll lose both games to Chicago (despite the bears being an improved team)

BTW, Dag,
Welcome to the blog. How do you have the Bears finishing? Overall? Division? Do you think Cedric Benson is going to be more Neal Anderson or Curtis Enis?

these are too predictable...u know ther's gonna be a bad home loss and a surprise road win along the way

Anon,
Oh I know. I admit I am going with the percentages. I think 10-6 is where they'll end up. How they get there is truly anybody's guess!

your fast start mkeans you think Joey is ready and going to QB all season.

I'll believe 10-6 when I see it. Remember, this is the Lions.

Air,
The fast start is a combination of a few things:

1. recent history - last year they started 4-2 before Joey imploded.

2. easy games early in the year. 4 out of the first 7 are at home (and they should win 3 of those 4) and the other 3 are on the road against very beatable teams (chicago, TB, Cleveland).

3. I think it will take awhile before teams figure out how to scheme against all those offensive weapons.

These are the Lions, but this current version has more talent across the board than any Lions team I've ever rooted for (since 1980). Whether they have enough experience (and whether JH can at least approximate an NFL QB) is another matter

What type of psychological explanation do you have for a person who deludes himself into thinking that the Lions are going to finish 10-6? While I'm just kidding, I'm afraid that I also am starting to get my hopes up just in time to have them dashed.

Research shows that pessimists are actually better predictors of future events--that is, they are more realistic. However, optimists have happier, less stressful, and longer lives. So, be optimistic about the upcoming season, but don't allow a single bad loss (or 3 or 4) ruin your hopes for a poor season.

remember, the prediction is not wrong until the Lions lose their seventh game, which hopefully will not occur until they have at least 11 wins!!

I think benson will be a huge asset, taking a load of pressure off of Grossman, esp early in season when he is tenative on his knee

Dag,
We can talk Chicago sports all day...as long as it doesn't turn into a Lovie lovefest.

I think CB has a chance to be a solid run between the tackles back, which will take alot of pressure of our fellow MOT'er.

However, that team has too many holes--I see them as 1-2 seasons behind the Lions in terms of development, but I agree they are on the rise...
